Great to hear recently from Jose Carlos Robles of the Photobook Club Alicante in Spain…
I’m delighted to tell you that we are running this month our sixth meeting, great news for us.
We are very happy because the Contemporary Museum of Art in Alicante is nowadays supporting us, offering their public library to celebrate our sessions. The Museum has a great collection itself and we are very proud to collaborate with them.
I send you some photos of the last event at the Museum.
As part of the exhibition Claire has organized a Photobook Club meetup in order to further delve into the books chosen and explore some of the themes they raise and connections between them. It is a great way to better understand the choices made in curation and a really valuable learning experience for those interested in taking part.
If you do want to pop along, the event will take place Tuesday the 10th of September 6 – 7:30pm and If you could kindly email Claire on claire.reece91@gmail.com to confirm attendance (or get more information) that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to Tono Arias of the Photobook Club Galicia and Yoshikatsu Fujii of the Photobook Club Tokyo who have sent through images from their latest meetups. Especial congratulations to Galicia as this was their inaugural meetup!
The Photobook Club San Sebastian’s inaugural event was a huge success with a great turnout and fantastic selection of photobooks, new and old. Big shout to organizer Yosigo Yosigo who also put together this wee trailer/teaser from the event and also documented each of the books brought along (which you can see below).

TUESDAY 19 FEBRUARY
7–8.30PM at MGA
Come along and enjoy discovering the world of photobooks!
MGA Curator STEPHEN ZAGALA will kick off our year of guest speakers with the extraordinary work THE ROAD 1974-75 by WESLEY STACEY: a briefcase full of photobooks exploring the classic Australian roadtrip. With only two full sets of THE ROAD created by the artist this is a rare opportunity to look inside.
What to bring? If you have a favourite photobook or two bring them along to share with the group! MGA has partnered with PHOTOBOOKCLUB.ORG to promote and encourage discussion about the photobook format.
Melbourne’s first Photobook Club will meet every second month on the third Tuesday: April/June/August/October. Come to one or come to all! Everyone welcome. A different speaker or activity will feature at each meetup.
FREE event; bookings preferred email or phone 03 8544 0500
