Photobook Club Auckland and the Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive

“Photobook Club Auckland held a great evening with the Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive. Founder Daniel Boetker-Smith paid us a visit in Auckland and brought more than 50 photobooks from the Archive representing various Asia-Pacific photographers and bookmakers. Daniel spoke about the Archive and encouraged New Zealand photographers to submit their own photobooks. The archive already includes photobooks from Robert Zhao, Cristina De Middel, Anne Ferran and Rinko Kawauchi and some great titles from photobook makers all over the Asia-Pacific region.”

The Box of Books in new Zealand

An update from Anita Totha of the Photobook Club Auckland of the Box of Books visit to New Zealand…

The Photobook Club’s “Box of Books arrived in Auckland from Toowoomba AUS in late February. Photobook Club Auckland held its meeting in conjunction with the Tangent photo collective and brought together 20 photo book lovers. We thoroughly went through the box and all of its mementos and zines included from other clubs around the world. A crowd favorite photo book was Mrs Merryman’s Collection by Anne Sophie Merryman (Mack Books). We shared some other new titles too and had some great overall conversation around photo books and publishing in NZ. The box will be off soon to our friends in Victoria, Canada…

The Photobook Club Auckland Launches!

Congratulations to Anita Totha and the newly formed Photobook Club Auckland who will hold their inaugural meetup on January 23rd.

The Photobook Club aims to promote and enable discussion surrounding the photobook format online, and in person. The Photobook Club is founded by Matt Johnston in the U.K. and now a new branch will start in Auckland organized by Anita Totha. At our bimonthly meetings,  we will share relevant information and continue the conversation about the world of photobooks and book making.

First meeting will be Wednesday, January 23rd from 7-830pm held at:

New Zealand

Attendees are invited to bring a favorite photography book to show and discuss. All photography and photobook enthusiasts are welcome to attend!
